- Learning Outcomes
- On successful completion of this module, students will be able to:
- Apply the gauge principle both in the abelian and non-abelian case;
- Apply the Goldstone theorem;
- Work out the consequences of the Higgs mechanism;
- Identify the basic interaction vertices between the fields in the Standard Model Lagrangian

- Abelian and non-abelian gauge symmetry;
- Goldstone theorem;
- Higgs mechanism, mass generation;
- The complete Standard Model Lagrangian

- Assessment Detail
- This module will be examined in a 2 hour examination in Trinity term.Continuous assessment will contribute 15% to the final grade for the module at the annual
examination session.
