# Module MA2341: Advanced Classical Mechanics I

**Module Content**-
- Lagrange's equations, Hamilton principle, Calculus of variations, Conservation laws;
- Motion in central potential;
- Oscillations: Equilibrium and motion near equilibrium;
- Rigid body motion, Euler equations;
- Newton's laws, Constrained dynamics, Generalized coordinates and forces, D'Alambert's principle;

in a 2-hour **examination** in Trinity term. **Continuous assessment** will contribute 30% to the final grade for the module at the annual
examination session. Supplemental exams if required will consist of 100% exam
