Facilities

Trinity College Library is the largest library in Ireland with almost three million volumes. The library has also arranged electronic access to a wide variety of journals, including most mathematics journals.

The School of Mathematics research library includes current subscriptions and back sets of the main physics and mathematics journals together with over nine thousand books.

Access to the extensive research library of the School of Theoretical Physics of the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies can be arranged.

Full time academic staff, academic-related staff and registered doctoral students have access to other university libraries in the Dublin area on production of an ALCID membership card.

Computing Facilities

Several computers are available for use in research.

The department's UNIX computer system runs on a network of workstations and X-terminals, serving over 1000 users. There is full internet access, with www (each student has his/her own www page), ftp, e-mail, and news.

Research students with a need for extensive computational facilities may, by special arrangement, make use of computing facilities of the Trinity Centre for High Performance Computing.
