Physics Project
The title of my final year project was High-Entropy Alloys, supervised by Prof. Stefano Sanvito. We used DFT to simulate single phase NbMoTaW and calculate its thermodynamic and mechanical properties: the Gibbs free energy to show that it was stable at room temperature and the bulk modulus because it is the simplest mechanical property to calculate with DFT (just isotropic compression / expansion). The project is only worth 5 credits but definitely requires more work than that.
Maths Project
My maths project was about non-integrable deformations to the XXX spin chain. It went pretty well in the end; we got some original results but I wish I could have gone further with it and tried more things. Maybe I'll take it further over the Summer or something.
