Day 5 16/3/2012 Click here. A few things have happened so far since my last update. Firstly, I discovered a fly living in the plant on the first night. This was slightly unsettling. My first attempts to eradicate it consisted of me waiting by the plant with some tissue whilst blowing at the plant hoping it would come out. Eventually, I saw it on the leaves and I grabbed it with the tissue. All seemed well and I thought I was victorious but when I opened up the tissue, it flew out as if nothing happened. I spent the next day thinking of ways to kill it like leaving rotten fruit in a ziplock bag next to it and when it flew in, I could lock the bag and throw it in a fire. However, it landed near my iPod one day and I smashed it with some paper ending that predicament. I wish I could end this update now and say everything is going great but no, things are not going as well as I hoped. I would like to say that my shitty camera phone has a slightly yellow tinge to it but what you see is a pretty good depiction of what it actually looks like right now. The plant isn't looking quite healthy although apparently, this is supposed to happen. What matters is the root system. The leaves are superficial and when the root system does kick in, some lovely green leaves will come out. Until then, I'm not going to say much and leave it to do its thing. ![]() What is really worrying though is that I found some mould growing in the middle today. Not wanting to give up again like last time, I got some scissors and began tearing up the insides. I think the mould was only growing on the leaves rather than actually growing in the leaves. So I think I've gotten rid of it all and I'm leaving it by my radiator now to dry out. This could be a really good idea or a terrible idea that leaves me with a dry dead plant. I'll probably be going home tomorrow and won't be back till Tuesday. Hopefully, it isn't a pile of mould when I get back. |
