All about me

A picture of me

I'm a Senior Sophister, Theoretical Physics student. This summer I am working in Met Eireann, the Irish Meteorological service. I am interested in Geophysical Fluid Dynamics (GFD) and Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP). What interests me particlular is the representation of sub-grid scale phenomena in NWP - for example the parametrization of turbulence or diffusion, and subsequent prediction throught the method of ensemble averages. Indeed, as a naive fourth-year project, I hope to integrate some very simplified Shallow Water Equations (SWE's) on a nice, easy Cartesian grid, add turbulence or diffusion, and average quantities associated with the model over an ensemble of initial conditions. My CV is viewable here.
