Join us in the mathsoc room from 6pm every Monday to play Brawl, newcomers welcome! We'll have at least 2 setups running brawl each with up to 4 players. We'll be playing a large variety of game modes, 1v1's, duos, all for ones and of course, Danter. We will be hosting a mathsoc tournament later in the year so get in practice here! Next semester will also see a handful of societies in Trinity competing against each other to be crowned the King (or Queen) of Smash!
It's our first week back, what better way to celebrate/take out your rage than spend an evening wildly accusing, lynching and murdering your friends in mafia? No need to know the rules. Refreshments will be provided, so come along and join the party!
It's time for our Christmas party! Come on in out of the cold and enjoy yourself with the lovely members of Maths/Physoc, as we have a festive, fun filled evening in the SNIAM. There'll be free food/drink, more mice pies than you can handle, and plenty of cheesy Christmas jumpers to go around!

Breaking news! Irish performance in international tests of school mathematics. Professor Elizabeth Oldham is going to give an analysis on where we stand and whether Project Maths effected our Mathematical education in Ireland for the better.
This Tuesday, November 22nd, we're hosting our very own University Challenge in the MacNeil. Obviously, we'll be having a Mathematics round, but there'll be many more topics to sink your teeth into, such as Music, History, English, and more! We're kicking off at 7pm, and each team should consist of a maximum of 4 people. See you there!
Wine and dine with the physics and Maths societies in the Russell Court Hotel from 8 till late. After a reception food will be served and followed up by music untill 3am. Formal dress code. Classy time guaranteed.

We've got a very mathsy week for you this week indeed! Kicking it off, we have Professor Wilson from Oxford giving us a talk on the beautiful 4 colour theorem, as well as a dive into graph theory in general. Do note that this is on Monday, not Tuesday as per usual.
The Annual Porbhysoc/Mathsoc careers fair is back once again, come and speak to some of the best companies and organisations in the country (and outside) and find out what a career with them would be like. Companies who will have a stall on the day are KPMG, Deloitte, Murex, Microsoft, Intel, Accenture, IOP and SIG, just to name a few! Call in anytime from 1pm to 3pm on Wednesday 12th of Oct in the Sniam lecture room (ground floor).
Our first EGM of the year is being held in the Salmon/Synge theatre on Tuesday the 11th of October. We will elect our first year rep, librarian and our sophister rep. The Egm starts at 7pm and will be followed up with a Mafia night in the Mathsoc room. For those that haven't played before, don't worry you'll pick it up very quickly! Here is the wiki.
It's our first official talk of the year! We're giving you a mix of space, physics, history of science, maths, Newtonian mechanics, and aeronautics, all around the question of orbital mechanics ... and all within 45 minutes! Our wonderful speaker is Dr. William O'Connor, Senior Lecturer in the UCD School of Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering. The talk is kicking off at 19:30, and will be followed by a reception in the Mathsoc room.
The first official MathSoc event is our annual doughnut reception. Get to know your fellow classmates and MathSoc
members at this friendly social event. Eats as many of our high quality free doughnuts as you can and drink as much
of our complimentary free "beverages" as you like.
The reception takes place at 7:00 on Wednesday the 26th of September in the Sniam conference room (the physics
building at the end of the rugby pitch) and continues till late in the evening. Hope to see you all there
Welcome one and all to the last Mathsoc talk of the season! This is our President's talk, given by none other than Vladimir Dotsenko, under the auspicious title of "A = B, or Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Formulae (But Were Afraid to Ask)". As always, there will be a reception afterwards in our beloved Mathsoc room, with delicious treats and beverages. This promises to be a spectacular talk, so don't miss out!
Here's our final talk before the Presidential Talk next week, given by Dr. Marius Ghergu from UCD. Here's what the talk is all about: "This talk presents an overview of lattice points and polygons through various areas of mathematics. Minkowski's theorem regarding convex and symmetric sets in R^n will be presented as well as its applications in number theory or real life problems."
