Me, myself and I

I am a lecturer and head of department in theoretical physics at the National University of Ireland, Maynooth. I am also interested in environmental issues, which has often tended to swallow up most of my spare time. And partly overlapping with both these is a deep interest in philosophy. But enough of that now. If for some bizarre reason you have an interest in my private life, you must look another place.

Physics

My field of research is lattice gauge theory, and particularly gauge theories at high temperature and density, and quark and gluon correlation functions in momentum space. For more information, see my Maynooth University page which will contain more up to date information.

Philosophy

• Diploma thesis: Materie og krefter i kvantefeltteorien - et forsøk på filosofisk belysning (Matter and forces in quantum field theory - an attempt at a philosophical elucidation; in Scandinavian)
• Living in the midst of it all - a sketch of a process philosophy. Talk given at the II Student Philosophical Conference, Burgas, Bulgaria, 1991 (in English).
• Between relativism and cultural imperialism. Talk given at the III Student Philosophical Conference, Burgas, Bulgaria, 1992 (in English).
• Dyrs erkjennelse og moral (Animal epistemology and ethics). Dissertation for mellomfag in philosophy (equivalent to BA). (In Scandinavian and English translation).
