Trinity College Dublin

Notes.

This course is based on the course taught by Chris Ford before I took it over from him and is not, as far as I know, based directly on any text book, however, this material is common to most mathematics courses along with courses for scientists and engineers; this course could be defined as dealing with that part of mathematics which is also taught to engineers and scientists. There are many large and comprehensive methods books that contain this material. Examples are

  • Erwin Kreyszig, Advanced Engineering Mathematics.
  • Glyn James, Advanced Modern Engineering Mathematics
  • Howard Anton, Irl Bivens, Stephen Davis, Calculus. (Contains only the first part of the course: double integrals, line integrals etc).
  • Calculus: A Complete Course, R. A. Adams, 5th Edition, Addison Wesley Longman.
