Outreach

I enjoy talking about astronomy and am actively involved in astronomy outreach. One of the main activities I am involved in is a hands-on comet making workshop. I also visit secondary schools and discuss career opportunities in physics and astrophysics to prospective students.

Build a Comet in the Lab

Throughout the year secondary school students can visit the School of Physics via the Transition Year Physics Experience (TYPE) and Trinity Access Programmes (TAP) and get involved in physics related activities. As part of this, we host a 'Build a Comet in the Lab' workshop where we give a brief presentation explaining the composition, origin and importance of comets and then allow the students to build their very own 'comet'. Our comet making recipe can be found here.
