Lots of astronomical pictures can be found in the Students for the Exploration and Development of Space web site: SEDS, another good site for this kind of thing is the Astronomy Picture of the Day site.

This is M100, a spiral galaxy in the virgo cluster of galaxies. It is similar to our own galaxy, the Milky Way.

This is a map of galaxy positions in a narrow slice of the Universe, as identified by the CfA redshift survey. The Milky Way is at the bottom of the wedge and the radius is 200 Mpc. There a walls and clusters and voids visible. The picture was taken from here.

The website for the University of Nottingham cosmology course has a very good list of links. There is also a huge list of links here.

The steps involved in analysing Cosmic Microwave Background data is given in Max Tegmark's page. Wayne Hu also has a good CMB site. This is where I found a picture of the anisotropy power spectrum:

Here is another one, this time with the experimental results shown:

This came from this site. Here is a picture of the fluctuations themselves:

These fluctuations are on the scale of only one part in 100,000. This picture was taken from the COBE site. .
