By now you've used the the search engine and found out that it hold's alot of stuff on the website... Yet you still have a few question relating to it. Well this page should help. If you have any questions beyond what's on this page please feel free to email me at the address below.
Q. My webpage isn't listed when I search for my name?!
A. There's are two main reasons for this...
1. The database of new files is updated in the early morning. Any new files won't be seen in the database until around 6:30AM!
2. ht://dig works by following links from page to page. If noone has a link to your page then it won't be listed. This also is true for other pages in your ~/www directory. They won't be indexed unless they themselves have something pointing to them.
Q. When I stick in a word to find all I get is this:
htsearch detected an error. Please report this to the webmaster of this site. The error message is:
Unable to read document database file '/u1/mnt/ross/wwwdb/db.docdb' Did you run htmerge?
A. You are either a) trying to access the database between 5:25am and 6:30am... (Hint: Go home!) or b) there is a problem, email me at ross@maths.tcd.ie
Q. Where can I get more info on ht://dig?
A. Go to the ht://dig website.
ross@maths.tcd.ieBack to the Search Engine.
Back to the School of Maths home page.
You could however just want to go to my page!
