The group has developed an accurate, Reynolds (Re)-robust direct
numerical method for the solution of the Prandtl boundary layer equations
for flow over a flat plate.
Re-robust approximations to the velocity and its
first derivatives have been calculated, allowing for an accurate
determination of shearing stresses and drag on the plate.
This method has successfully been applied to an extended system
that includes the Prandtl energy equation in the case of
forced convection flow over a flat plate, and the heat flux from the
plate to the fluid has been calculated.
