Progress in CFT

Hamilton Mathematics Institute (HMI), June 5th-8th 2018
There has been a very rapid progress in conformal field theories. Bootstrap methods (both numerical and analytic) together with technical advances, led to an imporved understanding of the AdS/CFT correspondence. We now know that a CFT with a large central charge and a large gap in teh spectrum of operator dimensions is dual to Einstein gravity. At the same time progress in AdS3/CFT2, where the symmetries are even more constraining, keeps teaching us new things about BTZ black holes. One may hope that the new insights might help us to better understand black holes in higher dimensions as well.
The goal of this workshop is to bring together the leading experts working in these directions and facilitate interactions among different approaches through a mixture of structured talks and informal discussions.
