NTP leap second data
This page describes the data used in the paper The Leap Second Behaviour of NTP
Servers." presented at the 8th
Traffic Monitoring and Analysis Workshop (TMA 2016).
The data is available as a large
.tar.xz file. The file is approximately 1GB in size and contains
approximately 19 million files, with md5 checksum
161a1608230805cc00765062df9d91b2. There are three subdirectories
contained within this file.
- out:
This contains a subdirectory for each year. Each subdirectory
contains a files called listXXX.leap.YYYYMMDDHH, which
indicate a parsing of the leap second indicator from the
detailed requests sent. XXX is either 1, 2 or Pool, depending
on if the list of results is from the public stratum 1 list,
the public stratum 2 list or my subset of the Pool list.
The format of the files is
server result
where,
server
is the IP or name of the server and
result
is leap=BB
or blank.

This contains a subdirectory for each YY/MMDDHH. Each
subdirectory contains a files named after each queried
server that responded, which includes the raw output of
ntpq
or ntpdate
.
- err:
This contains a subdirectory for each YYYY/MMDDHH. Each
subdirectory contains a files named after each queried
server that responded, which includes the raw stderr of
the script running the test.
