Welcome all to this the most mundane of webpages that ever scourged the fun out of existence i.e. there are no lovely pictures. My name happens to be Gerard Barrett a crusader for the cause of theoretical physics or idiot for short. What I plan (should luck prevail and I last the duration) is to specialise in Astrophysics and hopefully pursue a career on the continent(how difficult could it be; after all I do speak mediocre french.). Seriously though I have a strong interest in how the universe functions and do enjoy most of the maths side of the course though some topics just fly over the cuckoos nest if you get my meaning- no profs shall be mentioned or there will be mu sorry, wailing and gnashing of teeth!!! As for that which is comprehendible finding some of its practical physical applications are somewhat like searching for a yoghurt covered raisin in a bed of pebbles.
Now away from the course my interests lie in .......God I'm dull, badminton, music(Radiohead, Manics, Buckley-Jeff, Beatles), snooker, piano, playstation and from time to time I read-yes a strange choice for a student; if I'm not careful and the rumour gets around I could be flogged and stoned....hmmm....stoned...no! I didnt mean to insinuate that type, I meant rocks!!!!. To finish up with this idle raving I hope my time here will be prosperous and rewarding i.e. After 4 years I'll have come to the same conclusion as socrates That being 1+1=1
