    ICME-10 in Copenhagen

    A Progress Report

The ICMI Executive Committee is pleased to announce that Professor Mogens Niss, from Roskilde University and former Secretary of ICMI, has been appointed Chair the International Program Committee for ICME-10. The composition of the IPC will be announced in the next issue of the ICMI Bulletin.

From the Danish National Representative to ICMI:

Although Copenhagen is the capital of Denmark, ICME-10 is planned in a cooperation between all the Nordic Countries and the local profile of the conference will be a Nordic profile. This means that the Local Organizing Committee may have a majority of Danes, but includes members from other Nordic Countries as well. Moreover there is a special Nordic Coordination Committee with equal representation from all the Nordic Countries: Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.

Under the chairmanship of Morten Blomhøj, associate professor at Roskilde University, the work in the Local Organizing Committee is in good progress. We have developed a beautiful logo which we look forward to disclosing in Tokyo together with a short video presentation of the local culture of Mathematics teaching. We have put a lot of effort in finding the best congress centre or university in Copenhagen for ICME-10. We have checked that Copenhagen and Malmø in Sweden - recently connected by a bridge across the Sound - can offer accommodation at different prices for a large conference at the appropriate time in 2004.
