    The General Assembly of ICMI
    to Convene at ICME-9

    In accordance with the rules and practice of ICMI, the General Assembly of ICMI will be held at ICME-9, Makuhari/Tokyo, Japan, on Friday August 4, 2000, 18:00-20:00. Information concerning the location of the Assembly will be found in the congress materials.

    The General Assembly is a closed meeting for the National Representatives of ICMI (each representing an Adhering Organization) and for the members of the ICMI Executive Committee. In case a National Representative is unable to be present at the General Assembly he or she is kindly asked to arrange for the appointment of a substitute. In addition to the formal members of the General Assembly, representatives of the four ICMI Affiliated Study Groups, HPM, PME, IOWME and WFNMC, are invited to participate in the meeting as observers, as well as the former members of the ICMI Executive Committee.

    The agenda of the General Assembly is as follows:

    1. ICMI finances
    (Note: The ICMI accounts have been approved by the Executive Committee of the International Mathematical Union.)

    2. Debate on ICMI activities 1996-2000, including:

      ICMI internal affairs:
        Members, in particular co-opted non IMU-members, National Representatives, Sub-Commissions
        Information and communication, including the Bulletin and the website
      ICMEs 8 & 9
      ICMI Studies
      Affiliated Study Groups
      Regional meetings
      WMY 2000
      ICMI and the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM)

    3. Future plans and developments
