Carl Sagan Movie Night - Tuesday 20/11/12
We as the DU Physoc are great fans and followers of the great Carl Sagan, and so to honor his majesty we are having a Carl Sagan night, and we are going to watch Contact, a film written by Carl himself!
It involves a scientist finding conclusive radio proof of intelligent aliens, who send plans for a mysterious machine. It also has Jodie Foster, whats not to love!
So come on Tuesday to the Maths Seminar Room for a guaranteed great night! As always dress up is optional but always appreciated...

Freshers Party - Wednesday 19/09/12
Last year, we organised a Freshers Party with the Mathsoc and it turned out to be a huge success. In fact, it was so good we want to do it again. So whether or not you want to come meet the incoming freshers or catch up with friends, it will be the place to be so come along. Most likely will be at the pav.
Halloween 2011 till end of term 2012
Stuff happened. Just never got updated. A no show from the real santa at the Christmas party led to Colin stepping up to the mark. Then tripping over the mark. Then hurting his leg. Then sobbing for an hour. The gap between Christmas and reading week saw talks. Many many talks and many receptions afterward. Of course who can forget the CERN pilgrimage that reading week. Well most of us do, damn that 2 for 1 70 cl deal in the duty free. Valentines day rolled around, physoc and mathsoc were both struck by cupids arrow. Following a lengthy legal process an open relationship was declared. We are in college after all. Then there were exams.. We wont talk about them.
Hallowe'en Fancy Dress Party - 27/10/11
This Thursday October 27th, our annual Hallowe'en party will take place, co-hosted with the Mathsoc. Fancy dress is most definitely recommended! You will almost certainly stick out like a sore thumb if you don't!!! It is always a huge success and one of our most popular events.
The party will begin at 7.30pm in the SNIAM conference room. A few treats and glasses of wine will be doing the rounds. There will be several prizes for best/worst costumes! The party will then continue on to Messrs Maguire, where we shall celebrate the end of the harvest late into the night! It was a tough harvest lads, but we made it!!
Trinity College and Trinity Physics: A History - 18/10/11
I am delighted to inform you that Dr. Eric Finch will be giving a talk next Tuesday the 18th of October at 7.30pm. It is to be held in the Schrodinger Theatre in the Fitzgerald Building. If you do not know where that is, then just follow the crowds and the atmosphere (or find a map here, it is to the right of the rugby ground as you look at the map)!!
The talk will be followed by a reception, where a few glasses of wine will be doing the rounds. Oh I suppose I should tell you the title: "Trinity College and Trinity Physics: A history", but I'm sure I had most of you at Dr. Eric Finch!! Find the event here on facebook.
Since the talk is taking place during 4th week, it will be open to all members of the college, so feel free to bring along some mates if they are interested in physics. We can sign people up after the talk if they like.
Movie Night - 06/10/11
Hope you all had a great time at the quiz last week, if you were able to make it. We had a massive turnout, which was a little unexpected (our distinct lack of chairs reflected this), but we were delighted to see you all there.
It is a little short notice, but we have decided to do a small event this week in the form of a DVD night in the MacNeill theatre. That is the really big lecture hall upstairs in the Hamilton. The DVD is entitled "The End of The Earth" and "Most Dangerous Places". They will be epic, Manya has assured us!
We'll provide softdrinks and popcorn!
Table Quiz - 29/9/11
We would like to invite you to our first event of the year, the first of many!
It will be a table quiz on general knowledge, maninly, with a little bit of physics! None of the committee wanted to be stuck with the physics round, so don't worry if you are not physics orientated. . . apparently neither are we!!!
There will be a few glasses of wine knocking around, as per usual, maybe even a few Tayto, but also feel free to bring your own refreshments.
We will also be electing 1st year and Post Grad reps, so if you are interested, please come and put your name forward.

Nuclear Weapons and Morality - 9/12/10
It's been quite a struggle, but the time is finally right. Our hands are trembling with excitement and extreme cold.

We will undoubtedly see you there!
(Physoc + Mathsoc) Halloween Party - 28/10/10
Science has ruined ghosts, magic and so on. In that spirit, we're going to hammer the last nail into this coffin on Thursday at 7.30 with the bi-annual Physoc-Mathsoc Hallowe'en party! Last year, the SNIAM got so scary that we all had to leave and go to Messrs Maguire's afterwards. Expect the same this year. Also expect the unexpected.
Costumes are fun to wear. The objectively best dressed may win a prize.
Hope to see plenty of spooks there!

Physoc Site Open For Business - 28/9/10
We've decided this year to get the site up and running in some significant way. There is a library being built, so you will be able to see what the Physoc has to offer by way of books, and also, we've opened a forum so you can come and ask for help with general topics or specific questions!
We're very open to suggestions about what you'd like to/NEED TO see here. Any and all suggestions are very welcome!
