PC DEMO EFFECTS

Demo? What's a demo?

First of all, if you don't know what a demo is, I recommend you have a quick visit to PC Demos Explained to find out about them in general, or just download a few from The Hornet Archive. (Try some of the 64K demos first and then try the larger ones. Have a look at my list of my Favourite Demos). Right, amazed? You should be. Basically a demo is lots of amazing 3D Graphics, all texturemapped and phong shaded, with high quality sound playing in the background, and loads of other snazzy effects, all in 64K or less!

The people who make demos do it for no other reason than to show off their programming skills. There are 100's of demogroups around the world (mainly in Europe) which produce these demos. There are competitions, such as Assembly 97 ( or 98, or whatever), in which they compete.

Not a lot is needed to do all this programming, but check what you need to find out.
