Thee Mathsoc Wiki...
...is a wiki hosted by the Dublin University Mathematical Society. The idea is this: to create a site containing useful information about Maths and Physics courses in Trinity College Dublin, such as lecture notes, links to useful sites, and Colm O'Dunlaing. The site is a wiki, meaning: anyone can edit any of the pages on the site.
This means you can either add details for course webpages, or anything interesting you've thought of that might be useful, or else you can add your own lecture notes. The latter is an excellent way of revising!
Writing Maths
There are now two possibilities... Both of them rely on a knowledge of (La)Tex; for a good introduction see David Wilkins' LaTeX notes.
- You can edit a wiki page exactly as you would edit a normal LaTeX document. Any page containing the LaTeX command to begin a document is interpreted as a LaTeX source file, and an option to generate a pdf of the file is added. This is awesome. See here and here for the original example and page by Austin J. Che.
- Alternatively you can use the built-in MediaWiki math thingy. This uses LaTeX with the amsmath package. A list of usable formulae is here. This looks worse than a pdf. Maths must be placed in math tags:
