                    Lattice QCD and V_{ub} & V_{cb}

Recent developments in lattice QCD for calculating properies of $B$ and
$D$ mesons are discussed.  I shall discuss how to use heavy-quark
effective theory to control uncertainties in the numerical calculations.
Then I will present three specific calculations that are needed to
determine the CKM matrix elements V_{ub} and V_{cb}: the form factor
for the semi-leptonic decay B\to\pi l\nu, the form factor for B\to
D^*l\nu, and the binding energy and Fermi motion in a B meson.
