So GU4DEC is finally over - I think it worked out pretty well in the end. I didn't actually manage to take any photos during the event, so thanks to Thomas and Anders for their excellent photos [more are available here and here]. The conference mostly went from crisis to crisis, but most people didn't see behind the scenes, which was good. I had to give a welcome speech thing for the start of the conference - it mostly sucked [from my perspective of trying to be a perfectionist I guess], but Jeff saved it all with the light pen 'We are all the stars of GNOME' bit.

It was wonderful to meet some familiar faces again, and some new ones. You really feel that the project is growing in such wonderful ways, as you get to know all the different characters. I am definitely more comfortable with these people now - they're all a bunch of complete whackos, but I wouldn't change that for the world.

I thought the conference was going to be all work, work, work...

But fortunately that turned out not to be the case...and I still had to show them a thing or two....

I think I will miss them now that they are gone. They're always a bunch of people that constantly bring so much inspiration to my life.
