The UK Co-Ed Tour 2 tournament was held between 20th/21st May, 2006 in London, England, and I stayed with friends.
I played this tournament with Ping Dynasty and we finished 6th. |
Cu-PING!
Playing with Ping continues to be a fun but frustrating experience as this weekend showed. We finished 6th after loosing badly to Brighton in our lsat game but more importantly throwing away a 4 point lead against Rampant X that cost us a place in the semi-finals.
The team has a mix of very strong players and we frequently show great skill in attacking our opponents, as proved in a few very comfortable victories. Unfortunately, when things got a little bit tough for us (4 times this weekend) we had trouble executing our game plan and things got a little bit ragged.
After getting in a really strong position against Rampant X (8-4 ahead), we failed to stop their come back and were eventually unable to score 2 down wind points and thus lost the game 10-8 (yes, 6 in a row). For me, this capitulation was due to us stoping playing as a team and trying to do too much as individuals, or even trying to expect too much from other people.
Do not get me wrong though, it was a really fun weekend and I'm really glad I got to experience it all with Ping. Our sudden death victory on Sunday afternoon againt Bristol Plastic Factory was one of the more enjoyable games I've played in a while. Both teams gave their all and my mid field wrestle with Ceaser was some nice little comic relief to a very tense clash!
There is still one more tour event to go and we will still be seeded high enough to be in with a chance to win it. Personally I see no reason why we shouldn't go out there with that goal in mind. No doubt we will continue to Ping it and I'm sure we will have a good time together yet again.
