I went to London and Florence between 1st/20th April, 2004. I went there for ultimate and stayed with friends. |
A great time seeing Emma and Gareth in London, then relaxing in Florence with Jess and the Flying Bisch'
I took a three week trip to play ultimate and was really lucky in that I got to spend time with some of my best friends in between as well as make new ones.
I was based in London in between all the tournaments but the most I spent there at any one time was three days! I stayed with Emma and Susan in their cool apartment in Bow and got to meet some of Emma's friends there that I didn't know and also got to hang out with WeeMan a couple of times.
He unfortunately introduced me to Virgin's 5 movies for £30 deel and as a result I ran out of money before my holiday was over!
I didn't get to meet up with Mr. Fearon, which was a shame. We just couldn't find a time that suited both of us. Next time my good man, next time.
One of the tournaments was in Italy (Paganello in Rimini) and I played with a team from Florence. I knew two of the guys before hand but ended up having a great time with all of them for the weekend. A big hello and thanks to Jess and Darren for being my English speaking co-horts on the team. Also another big thanks to Jess and Max for translating all my random comments in to Italian.
After the tournament ended, I had a few days before I flew back out of Milan and the team suggested I head down to Florence with them. This turned out to be a perfect suggestion as it ment I got to stay with friends a little while longer, I got to train with the Bischi and then have a real nice dinner with all of them before heading back to London.
Probably the best thing about staying in Florence was getting to spend more time with Jess, who I'd gotten quite close to over the weekend. I did my best to teach her about listening to what buildings have to say for themselves and how you can get a feel for a city based on that. I don't think she's quite got the hang of it yet!
Thanks for a great weekend Jess, from start to finish. I hope we can do it again some time soon.
