Note to reader
This page now serves as a snapshot in time from a simpler, innocent age when 512kbps was a lot of bandwidth. The previous two updates were made in 1999 and 1996. This the 2004 update is being made because I'm starting to get "remember me" emails from fellow students from my (fondly remembered) days in Trinity that mention how out of date my page is. If you knew me in Trinity (or before that) and happen to come across this page then send me an email.

My current job is with Eircom: Where I am responsible for planning & development of the core & international IP Network.

I'm a graduate in
Theoretical
Physics (1995). Currently I'm doing an M.Sc in High Performance Computing in the Maths Dept.
In the summer of 95 I worked as an astronomer at Armagh Observatory.
Now I spend my days at an ISP called
Medianet.
Along with Alex French (Maths, Trinity)
I run the network there.
When we set up the ISP in December 95 Niall Murphy (CS, UCD) was working with us. He returned to academia and is now
an .ie hostmaster. So we can tease him about how easy Ireland's most
important computer is to hack.
Check out your sites connectivity with
these network utilities (handy
for traceroute and ping deprived students too).
Here's a useful site a Looking Glass to the routing tables at major peering points.
My contribution to putting something
worthwhile on the web is my
Dublin Cinema Guide.
Here's a
Finger Gateway
I wrote many moons ago.
When in Trinity I lived in the
Maths Society. The
School of Mathematics is the best department in college (and is the birth place of UNIX in Ireland).

Here's a pic of Alex French in the days of Club Internet.
I don't normally wear suits BTW. |
