082 - TSM - Mathematics

On successful completion of this programme, students should be able to:

Two Subject Honor Moderatorship in Mathematics (Pattern A, Mathematics as one subject)

Students who have successfully completed the Moderatorship will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate a competence in formulating, analysing, and solving problems in several core areas of mathematics at a detailed level, including analysis, linear algebra, abstract algebra, and at least one of the following: statistics, probability or applications of mathematics
  2. Demonstrate an advanced and fundamental understanding of at least one specialist mathematical topic, including the ability to solve problems related to that topic using appropriate tools and techniques
  3. Communicate clearly in writing and orally knowledge, ideas and conclusions about mathematics, including formulating complex mathematical

    arguments, using abstract mathematical thinking, synthesising intuition about mathematical ideas and their applications

  4. Advance their own knowledge and understanding of mathematics and its applications with some degree of autonomy.

Students who have successfully completed the Moderatorship will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate a competence in formulating, analysing, and solving problems in several core areas of mathematics at a detailed level, including analysis, linear algebra, abstract algbera, and at least one of the following: statistics, probability or applications of mathematic
  2. Demonstrate an advanced knowledge and fundamental understanding of some specialist mathematical topics, including the ability to solve problems related to those topics using appropriate tools and techniques
  3. Communicate clearly in writing and orally knowledge, ideas and conclusions about mathematics, including formulating complex mathematical arguments, using abstract mathematical thinking, synthesising intuition about mathematical ideas and their applications
  4. Demonstrate that they can advance their own knowledge and understanding of mathematics and its applications with some degree of autonomy.

Two Subject Honor Moderatorship in Mathematics (Pattern B, Mathematics as minor subject)

Students who have successfully completed the Moderatorship will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate a competence in formulating, analysing, and solving problems in several core areas of mathematics at a detailed level, including analysis, linear algebra, abstract algebra, and at least one of the following: statistics, probability or applications of mathematics
  2. Demonstrate an advanced knowledge and fundamental understanding of one specialist mathematical topic, including the ability to solve problems related to that topic using appropriate tools and techniques
  3. Communicate clearly in writing and orally knowledge, ideas and conclusions about mathematics, including formulating complex mathematical arguments, using abstract mathematical thinking, synthesising intuition about mathematical ideas and their applications.
