The Primary School Curriculum is under revision. This paper considers some aspects of the outgoing Syllabus (1971). The author believes that some of the textbooks are confusing and unrewarding, and that primary-school children should rely much more on a fixed set of `structural materials.' The use of structural materials is recommended in the 1971 Syllabus, but not universally adopted.
