Colour scheme for the cables

Yellow: 10-baseT patch cables (patch panel to hub or switch)
Red: Host to wall socket (also for direct connections hub to server in cabinet)
Green: Crossed-over uplink (hub to switch)
Grey: Crossed-over uplink (hub to switch) OR
Grey: Telephone connection
White Serial cable (from terminal patch panel).

The type of serial equipment (DCE or DTE) is determined by
the wiring of the RJ45 plug on the equipment to RJ45 lead.
DTE equipment uses standard 10Base-T plug wiring whereas DCE
equipment has the pin order reversed:
