The Invisibles 12

Story by Grant Morrison
Art by Steve Parkhouse

Vertigo, $2.50

Short Review: Grant pulls the chair out from under us.

The last of the first set of short stories in between arcs follows the pattern set by the other two - set in the present, featuring King Mob - but this time takes us on a journey back through the life of one of the supporting characters, showing a life twisted in on itself, leading easily to fighting for the side of darkness, without any thought or question. Grant seems to be saying that modern life itself, without any serious effort applied, can or will deaden people from the inside. It's "just" a human life, up till it stops. Wow.

The art is friendly or threatening as the script demands, from the pen of Steve Parkhouse, possibly best known previously for the BoJeffries saga with Alan Moore. The world needs more of him, and no mistake.
