Wow, again. This is about as good as it gets. In this issue, Warren Gale finds some more of his past, his Shadow finds him, and Shen invokes an ancient spirit to find and destroy the Shadow. Sounds like an issue of Doctor Strange, right? But the sheer depth of characterisation and dialogue that John Ney Rieber fits into 24 pages is astonishing. He's created real people, even for the cameos, and his insight into their lives and deaths is phenomenal. You feel that you know each of the characters. John Van Fleet's artwork helps immensely in this, as the closest thing to photorealism that I've ever seen. The man is a genius. Both of them. Hell, throw in John Costanza, for his lettering, as well. Buy this comic.
