Short Review: Big showdown, Jonah doesn't die. (duh)

Hmph. Jonah's second mini-series in recent times ends with none of the originality of the first. Whereas in the first, we had Jonah following a troop of zombies and being followed by a tribe of Indians, with his wits and guns to defend him, here he and his friends descend into the lair of the Worms which have been troubling the ranch above. The escapades are mostly to do with the worms having a higher level of technology than the upper world, and the cowboys dealing with cars, elevators, and robots. Eventually, they find the Main Chamber(tm) and kill the Queen.

One of the advantages of this ending, from the point of view of the writers, is not only does it make cleverness on the part of the good guys less necessary (even when Jonah does make the right choice, it's clear that he's guessing, not working with what he knows best), but it makes it possible to kill people off. Without enough characterisation though, it's hard to care. A bland issue, because of, not despite, the action.
