Hellblazer 84
Story by JamieDelano
Art by Sean Phillips
After the whatever that was Garth Ennis's run on this title, Jamie
Delano returns to the writing for one intermediary story before Eddie
Campbell takes over next month. It's probably impolite to suggest that
he intended to put Ennis's run in perspective, but that's exactly where
it appears - a long way away, and fading fast. The differences are
striking, and none too complimentary to Ennis's writing. This issue has
subtlety, terrifyingly real villains, humour, a dark, unpleasant
undertone and characterisation that we haven't seen for well over 40
issues. Brilliant, quite brilliant. The art, by new artist Sean Phillips
is great to look at, although is does seem a little like Chris Bachalo's
in places. Buy this, and find out what you've been missing.
