Ghostdancing 1

Story by JamieDelano
Art by Richard Case

In the lodge beneath the world, the power beings dance, keeping the earth turning with the beat. And now, there is a new beat, a beat from the outside world, a beat made by a human who once felt some magic, back when another power being, now missing, walked in the world. And so Coyote-Old-Man leaves the lodge to walk the world, and the drumming, aided by a potion of natural drugs, starts to affect those who are closest to the story, and and old Indian man enters the home of the drummer.

The art by Richard Case is, of course, beautiful. Delano's story, although thankfully not as overweeningly Enviromental as his previous Animal Man run, is disjointed, and even at 24 pages to introduce 5 main characters, he tends to let the descriptive prose run on, much to the detriment of characterisation. The series could be good, but it's not an auspicious start.
