Short Review: Gripping.
Superhero teams versus single villains are an old theme, generally signalling an issue long fight-sequence. Superhero deaths also are a well trodden path, and it speaks volumes of Alan Moore's writing talents that he manages, in this reprint of three issues from 1983, to convince a member of today's jaded comic readers (me) of the danger in the fight, and the permanence of the deaths. The choreography of the fight against the terrible Fury, and the styling of the sequences leading up to it, the tragedy of the fight and the terror of the preceding pages, all make this a blast from the past that easily beats almost any of the current lot.
