Short Review: Yawn. Another Marketing move with no guts.
So, another Big Move by the guys in D.C. This time, it's the death of Clark Kent. Someone's finally figured out that if you draw glasses on a picture of Superman, you get Clark Kent. And so this villain starts to systematically destroy Clark's life. Since it's a Bad Superhero Villain, he sends Clark a few unsubtle hints first. Superman protects everyone in time, rushes off to fight Conduit (for it is he) and then forsakes beating the snot out of him in exchange for saving Ma and Pa Clarke. Conduit manages to not tell Jimmy Olsen (or anyone else) of Clark's secret identity, and something tells me he never will.
tells noone) are all obviously edicts handed down from on high, and to be fair to Dan Jurgens, he does a decent job within both those constraints and the general Superman story format. When Conduit tells Superman that he's going after "His woman", Clark follows his heart to Lois, before realising that it's actually Lana that's in trouble. Similarly, the destruction of the homestead by Conduit is more powerful than you might expect. The art is standard superhero fare. A good story, if there were ever a hope in hell that it was permanent.
