Short Review: the Krew against the Fantastic Four. Or something.

Wheee! Getting Vertigo favourites Mark Millar and Grant Morrison to work off their aggression in the Marvel Universe by allowing them to create a team of shapechangers with a finite amount of time to live and a serious grudge against the villains you love to hate, the Skrulls, must have seemed like a good idea at the time. And speaking broadly, it is. The fights are well written, the dialogue and characterisation is neat, and the art, by Chris Yeowell, is a wonder to look on. But Grant and Mark are having too much fun charging around to restrict themselves to the badguys, and decided to bring in mainstream Marvel characters. After all, it's not as if the plot of this series doesn't subvert all Marvel continuity, anyway. So, last month we had Hydra and Captain America, and this month we have the Fantastic Four, sort of. As well as much fight scenes, we get a sign that Ryder's knowledge isn't as all-encompassing as we were led to believe. All good clean fun, and the only comic from the big two this month likely to contain the word nig-nog.
