Short Review: Absolutely Brilliant
Katsuhiro Otomo is, as I may have pointed out before, the creator of Akira, and so you'll understand what I have to measure this work against, and how impressive it is that this is at least as good, although somehow quieter. This issue concludes the confrontation between Etsuko and Old Man Cho, and then follows the police hero around as he tries to figure out what happened. Half spooky thriller, half police film, this is a masterwork, written by someone with both great artistic skill, and most importantly the knowledge of where it is more effective to let the art speak for itself. The final scene, almost entirely without words, is one of the scariest things I have read in recent times.
