Short Review: Finishing a great celebration on an even higher note.
This last best-of contains 5 fine stories and, thank the relevant dieties, no Harvey Pekar.
The plot is a twilight zone-like sci-fi thing, which neatly serves as an introduction to the admittedly strange lead characters. The art is great, some wonderful use of black and white.
Story and Art by Mario Hernandez
Mario Hernandez, the third Hernandez brother, here presents his own art style, different to his brothers, and a tale of a retired troupe of freaks. Entertaining and moving.
Story by Rich Hedden
A simple story about a prison break by a dangerous criminal, and how he doesn't get farther than Frankie. The art is good, even if the story is exactly what you'd expect.
Milk and Cheese: Alcoholics Unanimous!
It'sh exceel-hic-exshell-hic-great!
Story by Jeff Smith & Paul Pope
This looks an awful lot more like Paul Pope than Jeff Smith, not only in the art, but the Martian setting, and Martian characters. Lots of adventure, though.
