Short Review: Another collection of the great and the good.
Story and Art by Paul Chadwick
A sequel to a story from DHP 1, this is a wonderful character piece. Chadwick has a talent for balancing the alienation that a man made out of rock feels with his wish to interact normally.
Story by Harvey Pekar
What the hell did I do to deserve 5 pages of Harvey Pekar's writing? This is a story of two men in a diner, and is a realistic depiction of real life. Hey Harvey --- real life sucks! Depicting accurately the uninteresting bits of real life doesn't tell anyone shit; we've all been there before! Joe Sacco's art does look really good here, as he has some backgrounds to do justice to.
Story and Art by Ivan Brunetti
No, Ivan, those are the Nasties. The Nasties are not necessarily funny, and these aren't (with the exception of Sex). Try harder next time.
Story by Dan Savage
This is Dan "Hey, Faggot!" Savage's auto-bio tale of being gay in a heterosexual world. It's well told, and the art is nice to watch. Probably not as striking as he may think.
Someone should fund Megan Kelso for life. She has an arresting knack of showing, with just a few lines, exactly what her characters are feeling. She also writes and draws Girlhero. Support your local Megan Kelso!
