Short Review: Great
This is the first of five normal-sized issues celebrating 100 issue of a best-of, by exhibiting the best creators currently in the range, rather than a retrospective. As such, it's wonderful.
Wow. Why can't Frank Miller show even a fraction of the same sense of irony in his usual works? This is great.
Story by Paul Guinan & Anina Bennett
A cool, gutsy, action-packed sci-fi story, well plotted and female-friendly. Wanna see more.
Story by Harvey Pekar
Okay, some parts of this are retrospective. Harvey Pekar was once famous, which still doesn't explain this waste of two pages. The art is pretty nice.
This is strange, disconnected story, like a massively toned-down Al Columbia, which manages to keep the attention.
This is a True Swamp story, unless I miss my guess, so the rampant swearing on the part of the hedgehog is probably a feature. Either way, it's an interesting character piece, but only if you haven't seen Lewis's accuracy in depicting conversations.
What can I possibly say, to augment a title like that?
One-page splash for a series that looks, to be honest, like trash.
