Hmm, The Mask, well I saw the film earlier this year and I suppose I figured that the book would be along much of the same lines. Boy, was I in for a surprise. Either the film was a Disney adaptation of this is Tarantino's first attempt at comic writing. The blurb, however, does give some indication of the contents: "Blood! Guts! Major Weaponry! Complete Anarchy! Definityly Suggested for Mature Readers!" Yea, they really like those exclamation marks don't they.

Now onto the inside bit. The film and book rarely meet. Stanley Ipkiss is there, but as The Mask is far from the nic/3 of the way through. Some of the more amusing jokes of the film are present: I liked the toy balloon to tommy gun bit in both! Plot does seem to take something of a back seat to violence though and in places it gets a bit overwhelming. Gratuitous? Oh yes siree!
