Unsurprisingly, the translation of the Simpsons from the tv screen to paper media is an abject failure, lacking the barbed wit and fast paced action of Matt Groening's cartoons. Given that the marketing of the Simpsons hinges on a knowing pitch to adult audience, with the appeal to children taken as given, it's disappointing to see the comic decreasing sophistication and eliminating innuendo.
