Mr.Punch
Story by NeilGaiman
Art by Dave McKeanI realise this review may create a bitter taste in the mouths of
American readers, due to, DC's bass-ackwards view of how popular
Graphic Novels can be, so I'll keep this brief. Buy This. It's so one of
the best Graphic Novels I've ever seen, detailing the childhood memories
of an unnamed protagonist. These memories are as full of mysterious
hints and shadowed truths as any young child's world is, and are
dominated by the symbol Mr. Punch. The text, including several examples
of Neil Gaiman's phenomenal ability to open up minds with simple, true,
sentences, are enhanced beyond measure by Dave McKean's phantasmagorical
Art, which makes every page a visual treat, and brings out all the
horror inherent in a simple Punch & Judy Show. This book is moving
and quite simply brilliant, both at once.
