Short Review: Uninteresting stories, told well.
It's a pertinent question as to whether the stories in this issue are auto-biographical or not. Some of them, such as the childhood yoyo incident, or the swings, have an eye for details that definitely suggests it, while the story of an apartment block's janitor, and his brush with mortality, seems too traumatic to bear easy reproduction. Even if the last is auto-bio, it's the only story of any great weight, and there must of necessity be a limited number of them in any one life. The other stories are reasonably well told, with the story of the two mentally disabled guys in the playground being the only one done with sufficient skill to overcome the weakness of the material. If there's more of this kind of thing, it could get old quickly, but it could also mature into a very readable book.
