Short Review: Buy it if you like Elves. A lot.
The front cover of this shows the Elf-Like Being(tm) Jink, standing on a mountain top in front of a big city, wearing gypsy-like clothes, and holding some cyber-assisted version of a magic staff. All well, and good. The reverse cover, however, shows a worse-drawn version of the same ELB, with a big gun over her shoulder, another gun and a knife in her belt, and considerably less clothes. Oh, and some dippy guy in open shirt at her feet. This is the one drawn by one of the two writers. Mark my words, this does not bode well.
The art is quite nice, in an unspectacular way. The story is made up of the necessary elements: Jink is smart, quick, everyoung and mysterious. The bad guys, in this case a breakaway sect of an alien empire, are just misunderstanding, and the good guy/sap is well-meaning, pure of heart, and never incontrol of the situation. So, next issue he goes off to find Jink, and persuade her to explain things to the alien race. Nothing here worth picking up another issue for, although nothing sloppy or cliched, either.
