Story by J.M. DeMatteis
Art by Glenn Barr

Paradox Fiction, $4.95

Short Review: Engrossing Story, Great art.

J.M. DeMatteis has a very organic style of writing. Due to digressions, hints and flashbacks, it takes him about 100 pages at Paradox Fiction's slightly-more-than-half-normal page format to recount about two hours in the younger life of his narrator, who may or may not be a disguised version of himself. At least one of these diversions will seem familiar to anyone who has read Moonshadow, but ignoring this repetition, and the increasing volume of matters to be discussed later, the book is very entertaining, and a fascinating document of the state both of teens at the time (1970), and of the mind of the protagonist. Glenn Barr's wonderful art aids and assists throughout, shifting from cartoon to realism as the scene demands. A very good book.
